We support students with a wide range of abilities, many of whom have cognitive, sensory and physical impairments. We teach ICT related subjects as part of our curriculum and would welcome access to the Tecla Shield as a valuable component in helping our students develop and implement real life solutions to real life problems as part of their academic programmes. Coupled with the recent release of the App Developer suite from MIT I can forsee an incredibly powerful and democratic tool in the offing, empowering students at Hereward and other disabled people to create their own solutions. Our recommendation for Christine would be to get an Android 2.x tablet and the <a href="http://komodoopenlab.com/tecla/the-shield/" title="The Tecla Shield" rel="nofollow">Tecla Shield</a> for Android. Kindle on the iPad doesn't allow anyone to flip pages with anything that is not a finger swipe on the screen. The iBooks app on iPad works well with the Tecla Shield, but you need 3 switches minimum in order to flip pages. None of these limitations exist on Tecla for Android so, again, that would be the best solution for Christine. cheers!
